I wanted to experiment with the Unity 3D gaming platform, and as I'm an experienced C# programmer, I decided to follow the Pluralsight course; Introduction to C# in Unity.
Although the course has an Intermediate level, it really was very basic. The first 9 lessons are absolute C# fundamentals, and if you're an experience C# programmer, you can skip these completely.
Then the course moved onto a mini project, where you add the various assets and the code needed to compelte the game. This was the most enjoable part of the couse and was all new for me. The project lessons take you through adding code to move the ball, set up the camera, collecting coins, creating the coin counter, adding a kill box (so if you fall, it reloads the level), and setting up the finish line.
The course was targeted to Unity 4.3, but I used Unity 5.3. Most of the code was the same, but some of the statements used in the course have been deprecated and I had to lookup the new techniques.
