By February 14, 2016, restructure the Pixel Evolution stock images into Image Packs and relaunch the website. Then commencing February, create 10 new images a month, releasing a new Image Packs every two months.
So creating "3D Guy" style stock images was a thing I tried to generate some residual income, but have had absolutely no success. Not a single sale. I also tried adding the images to various stock images sites, and the process of doing so is so tedious, and really shouldn't be that hard. Then the image it is lost among a sea of millions of other images so you get not traction. Plus royalties are not paid until a certain number or level is reached, and the stock sites take the lion's share of the income. But the real killer is the images have to be JPGs, not PNGs, losing the transparency layer which will make these images harder to incorporate into customer's projects.
Not a simple and pleasant experience, so I dumped the stock sites and focused on using Gumroad.com which makes it much simpler, and only takes a fraction of the sale (though still no sales). To date, I've tried to sell individual images, firstly at $10, then $3 each, and having "Complete" pack selling all at a higher rate. So maintaining the individual images is still tedious, so I've decided to transition to selling 20 Image packs for $10, a very reasonable price. Hence the goal of 10 new images per month, that way I can launch a new pack every 2 months, and have minimal overhead.
I don't want to give up on this venture just yet. I still quite enjoy creating the images, but some sales would be very encouraging. Let see how this new strategy goes.
I'm happy to report, that on February 1, I relaunched the Pixel Evolution website with the first four Image packs. And today I released the next two image packs, 120 images and counting. Check them out:
